Three audiences, one feed

Why Social Media Works Differently for NDIS Providers

Social media for a café has one audience. Social media for an NDIS provider has three, and they are on different platforms looking for different things. Families are in local Facebook groups asking who is good. Support coordinators and plan managers are on LinkedIn watching which providers look organised and have capacity. Support workers are on both, deciding whether they would want to work for you.

There is also a line most agencies do not know exists. A participant’s photo posted without documented consent is a breach of the NDIS Code of Conduct and the Privacy Act, and a post promising outcomes is a complaint waiting to be lodged. Good NDIS social media is warm, specific and careful at the same time.

We have run social media for Australian small businesses since 2011 and for NDIS providers since the scheme rolled out nationally. The packages below come with a consent process, a content calendar built around the three audiences, and reporting that counts enquiries rather than likes.

What’s included

What Is Included in NDIS Social Media Management

Content, publishing, community management and reporting, at every package level.

A content plan for three audiences

Family-facing posts about what a day of support looks like. Referrer-facing posts about capacity, registration groups and new services. Recruitment posts that show what it is like to work with you.

Consent handled before anything is posted

A written consent process for any participant, family member or staff member who appears in a post, and a library of photos you are actually allowed to use. No stock images passed off as your participants.

Posts checked against the Code of Conduct

No outcome promises, no comparisons with other providers, nothing implying NDIA endorsement. Every post is reviewed before it is scheduled.

Community management

Comments and messages answered within business hours, in your voice. An enquiry in a Facebook message is treated as a referral, because it is one.

Recruitment content

Support worker vacancies are the hardest posts most providers write. We turn them into a steady feed that shows the work, the team and the conditions, and we route applicants to your careers form.

Monthly reporting that counts enquiries

Followers and reach are in the report. Enquiries, applications and website visits from social are at the top of it, because those are what you are paying for.

Consent, Privacy and the Code of Conduct on Social Media

Participants in posts

A participant has to give informed, documented consent before their image or story appears, and they can withdraw it. We set up the consent form, keep the record, and never use a photo we cannot trace to a signed form.

What a post cannot say

The Code of Conduct applies to marketing. That means no guaranteed results, no “best provider” claims, nothing that implies the NDIA recommends you, and no content that could be read as pressuring a participant to change providers.

Recruitment posts and screening

A vacancy post should say that a Worker Screening Check is required. It filters applicants before they apply and it signals to families that you take it seriously.

How We Manage Your NDIS Social Media

01

Discovery

Your supports, your registration groups, your service areas, who refers to you, and where you are struggling to recruit. We also collect your existing photos and check which ones you have consent for.

02

Strategy

Which platforms, which audiences, how often, and what the recruitment stream looks like. Agreed in writing before any content is made.

03

Content produced a month ahead

Graphics, captions and scheduling for your review. You approve everything before it goes live.

04

Publishing and community management

Posts go out on schedule. Comments and messages are answered in business hours and enquiries are passed to you the same day.

05

Reporting

Enquiries, applications, reach and what changes next month. Reviewed with you every month on Standard and above.

Get in touch
What does NDIS social media marketing cost?

From $800 a month plus GST for Facebook and Instagram, $1,200 for LinkedIn and paid campaigns, and $1,800 for video and TikTok. There is a three-month initial engagement, then it is month to month. Ad spend is separate and paid to the platform.

Which platforms should an NDIS provider be on?

Facebook for families and local community groups, Instagram if your supports photograph well, LinkedIn if you rely on support coordinators and plan managers for referrals. TikTok is mainly useful for recruiting younger support workers. We tell you which ones matter for your services, not all of them.

Can you post photos of our participants?

Only with documented consent from the participant or their guardian, which can be withdrawn at any time. We set up the consent process and keep the records. Without it, we use staff, premises and activity photos that do not identify participants.

Can social media help us recruit support workers?

Yes, and for many providers it is the main return. A regular stream showing the work, the team and the conditions brings applicants who already understand the job. We route them to your careers form.

Do we need a good website before starting social media?

It helps a lot. Social media creates interest and the website turns it into a referral or an application. If your site cannot do that, we say so first. Our NDIS website design team can fix it in about a week.

Do you run paid social ads for NDIS providers?

Yes, on Standard and above. Paid campaigns work well for recruitment and for launching a new service or location. For participant enquiries, Google Ads usually costs less per enquiry, and we will tell you if that is the case for you.
