Soccer City is a well-known online supplier of football gear, serving both individual players and the clubs they play for. From boots, balls and goalkeeping kit to full club teamwear, they stock everything a player or a team needs, with dedicated online shops for the clubs they supply. It is a busy WooCommerce store doing four to five orders a day, and it has to handle the real complexity of football retail: a large catalogue, many product variations, and very different shipping needs from one order to the next.

An unreliable store losing sales at checkout

When Soccer City came to us in 2019, they were running an ageing PrestaShop store that was holding the business back. It was awkward to manage and, worse, it was costing them sales: payments failed intermittently at checkout, and shipping was limited to a single fixed rate that made no sense for a catalogue ranging from a pair of socks to a full team kit.

1. Unreliable PrestaShop platform. Ongoing functionality problems and an awkward, hard-to-manage store.
2. Intermittent payment failures. Payments dropping out at checkout, losing sales at the very last step.
3. Fixed shipping only. A single flat rate that could not reflect real order sizes or destinations.

A custom WooCommerce store built to sell

We rebuilt the entire store on custom WordPress and WooCommerce, and fixed the things costing sales first: we integrated PayPal and Stripe for reliable payments, and built a proper variable shipping structure so postage reflects what is actually in the cart and where it is going. Over the years we have kept extending it, including a custom swatch system that lets customers choose from multiple product attributes, like size and colour, cleanly on a single product page. We have supported the store the whole way, since 2019.
